Comments
As prefigured at last year’s AGM, these things changed in the 2003/2004 financial year:
- We lodged a copy of the IRD letter confirming LIANZA’s/our non-profit status with our bank. This means we’re no longer charged monthly bank fees, and once this was done we received a refund of monthly account fees for the time since the date of the letter. ($25.75 received.)
- We’re no longer getting free audioconferencing through Victoria University of Wellington, so we’re having to pay for committee meetings. ($162.05)
- We’re supporting this wiki for LIANZA and paying the monthly hosting charges. ($300)
- We sponsored an IT-SIG member to attend the VALA conference 2004. ($1000.)
In addition:
- We set up an automatic payment to cover the quarterly hosting fees for the wiki. ($5 one-off fee to set up autopayment.)
- We needed to restore the wiki from backup. ($100.)
There was considerable discussion during the year about the accumulation of funds by SIGs. LIANZA’s preference is that these funds be used to benefit SIG members. We therefore made the decision to sponsor a speaker on IT-related topics at the LIANZA conference 2004. Since the end of the financial year we’ve received and paid an invoice for IT-SIG’s sponsorship of David Seaman. ($4000.) This means that we now have markedly less cash on hand than our 2003/2004 accounts would suggest.
I’m looking forward to passing on the IT-SIG accounts to a new Treasurer.
